Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish, returns in Diablo 4 as the final boss of Act IV, and if it is the first time you face her, you might die a few times. That's where our Diablo 4 Andariel boss kill guide comes into play.

This step-by-step guide explains Andariel's abilities and how players can defeat her, closing out Act IV of the game's massive story campaign without much hassle, so let's get started.

Please note: This guide does contain story spoilers for this portion of the game's campaign; you've been warned.

How To Beat Andariel in Diablo 4

This was the first story boss in Diablo 4 that gave us trouble during our review period, as Andariel can be quite difficult to beat. As Andariel's title, "Maiden of Anguish," might suggest, she delivers the pain at the end of Diablo 4 Act IV, "A Gathering Storm."

The first and most important thing you need to know to beat Andariel is that she hits exceptionally hard, has throws out long lines of magic that we can only describe as pain. We suggest waiting until the boss telegraphs a charge and running around the huge boss fight area, staying on the move. If you managed to get boots with a +1 Evade charge affix, that will help a lot here.

While her charge and magic attacks are deadly, they can combine with Rune Chains that spawn during the fight. These pull the player in and open them up to Andariel's attacks; they activate quickly, with a circle AOE effect pulling you in.

You can destroy the Rune Chains. We suggest instantly switching to DPS a Rune Chain down as soon as it appears with your character in the range of its AOE. If your character is not in range, ignore the Rune Chains and keep damaging Andariel.

Andariel is one of those bosses that can be staggered relatively easily, and we did it twice during our first kill. Use CC effects (including slows) to fill the boss' Stagger Bar quickly and blow it up once staggered. We suggest also using any cooldowns that add Vulnerability to the boss while it is staggered.

Andariel is a tough fight, one of the toughest in the game's campaign. If you are struggling, we recommend using an Elixir that increases armor and learning the boss' motions. You might die a few times (or once if you are playing in hardcore), but if you get the dance of killing the Rune Chains quickly down, Andariel should go down as well, allowing you to finish Diablo 4 Act IV and move on to Act V.

That's everything you need to know about beating Andariel, the Act IV story boss, in Diablo 4. Hopefully, this will help players get past the Maiden of Anguish without too much suffering... Good luck, Nephalem; you are going to need it!
